Third-party call control (SIP) is supported by the Cisco 7821 IP Phone with Multiplatform Firmware on supported third-party voice and video systems. It does not support Cisco call control and instead uses multiplatform (MPP) firmware that is exclusive to 3PCC phones. It provides pristine wideband audio performance together with a user-friendly, feature-rich voice communications experience.

- Service, messages, directories, hold/resume, transfers, and conferences are fixed features.
- Wall-mountable, dual-position foot stand
- 802.3af Power over Ethernet, a PoE injector, or a Cisco power cube with a 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet connection and a PC pass-through port with Session Initiation Protocol are all optional (SIP)
